“If we are unconverted, one thing is absolutely certain: we hate God. The Bible is unambiguous at this point. We are God’s enemies. We are inwardly sworn to His ultimate destruction. It is as natural for us to hate God as it is for rain to moisten the earth when it falls.” (R. C. Sproul).

Yes, by nature, you and I are haters. We are born haters and hating (Titus 3:3). Which would be great if it was evil that we hated. But it’s not. It’s the epitome of all good that we hate – God (Roman 8:7). In chapter nine of The Holiness of God, R. C. Sproul wrote:

“By nature our attitude toward God is not one of mere indifference. It is a posture of malice. We oppose His government and refuse His rule over us…It is not enough to say what the natural human mind views God as an enemy. We must be more precise. God is our mortal enemy. He represents the highest possible threat to our sinful desires…We despise his very existence and would do anything in our power to rid the universe of His holy presence…If God were to expose His life to our hands, He would not be safe for a second. We would not ignore Him; we would destroy Him.”

You’d think that such unprecedented intense hatred would be obvious to us, but it’s not. It’s one of the greatest triumphs of the devil that he stirs up this hatred in us, while at the same time blinding us to it. What’s worst of all, is that some of this natural hatred remains even in the Christian who has been given a new and supernatural love for God.

To help both believers and unbelievers better detect and root out this hatred from our hearts, here are ten ways in which we hate God.

1. We Deny Him: We deny his existence, or, like Peter, in certain circumstances we deny we know Him.

2. We Belittle Him: By ignoring Him, sidelining Him, not talking to Him, or not listening to Him.

3. We Contradict Him: We argue with His Word, His works, and His will.

4. We Disobey Him: We just blatantly and knowingly and stubbornly do what He forbids, or don’t do what He commands.

5. We Insult Him: We speak evil of Him, we use His name in curses, or use it in vain and frivolous ways.

6. We Blame Him: We accuse Him of ill-will, unfairness, injustice.

7. We Refuse Him: We refuse His help, His hand, His salvation.

8. We Distort Him: Ignoring God’s love, mercy, grace, salvation, we focus only on God’s holiness, wrath, justice, and sovereignty – or vice versa – and end up with a distortion of God.

9. We Use Him: We expect Him to come to our aid when we’re really desperate, but ignore him all other times.

10. We Take From Him: We just take and take, but without a word of praise or thanks.

Beginning to see a problem? So did the Apostle Paul, which is why he described us as “foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another” (Titus 3:3).

But in the very next verse, Paul also announced the solution, a solution that’s provided by the very same God that we hate.

“But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:4-5).

Yes, there’s a Lover for haters! More than that, this Lover turns haters into lovers!

Well i certainly have a very good reason to hate God since he Never gave me a wife and family that he gave to so many others, and what made them so Special to begin with? No good women out there to meet as it is since Most of them are very high maintenance and Pathetic too. The good old fashioned women of years ago were the Best compared to today.

well let me see where to start im 47 yrs old and the reason I do and can hate god is because for 23 yrs all he has done is take from me and hurt me, everything I have ever wanted, are cared for, needed or loved he has taken from me it doesn’t matter if its a cell phone or my last dollar he takes it from me, it either falls out of my pocket are someone steals it and this isn’t a once in awhile thing, these incidents that I speak of are on a daily event and when I say daily I mean daily, and its all because I wont bow or kneel, to someone who says they love me, remember god says he loves you but he wants you to bow or kneel. well if you truly love someone or something you wouldn’t ask it to bow to you cause you would have respect for it god preaches morality but in reality he is the most unmoral piece of shit there is, see whenever you start looking are judgeing someone for there actions like god supposedly does us and stop making excuses for his sorry ass or just stop making excuses for someone period and judge them soley on there merits well then it becomes pretty obvious who the asshole is are should I say hypocrite is, see in gods eye its ok for him to take from someone just because he is god but if we even take his name in vain where going to hell but that’s just one example of his hypocrite ass, and see folks the reason im writing this is because once I write this maybe he will go away and leave me alone forever, what I mean when I say this is theres little signs every once in awhile that I see that’s he still around, but I beg and pray everyday that he will go away, why cause I don’t and do not want a hypocrite, a liar, a false god of love in my life if I wanted that I would go back to my x wife, and I tell this piece of shit everyday I don’t love him or want him or need him and I will never, love him are want him are need his sorry piece of shit ass, so for 23 yrs that’s how its been, like for example I lose a 20 dollar bill but I find a 1 dollar bill and im suppose to be grateful for things like that and for 20 plus yrs that’s how its been, see that’s not a lesson why cause if it was a lesson it would stop as soon as you understood it, but for 20 plus yrs that’s torture and don’t give me that shit about its a lesson he’s trying to teach you bullshit, for 20 yrs? There’s people who have done 10 to 15 yrs for killing someone and they have learned there lesson but for 20 plus yrs that’s torture and remember it all comes from a god who says he loves you, that’s like a man beating up on his wife everyday, remember he beats her but he loves her so I guess everytime he hits her he says he loves her right? and if you believe that, that’s love I got some ocean front property in new mexico I can sell you.

How about you live in an abusive household and ask God daily for help and get none? How about you ask your priest why God won’t help you out of a bad neighborhood, your stepfather to stop molesting you, your mother to do something and he says, “God works in mysterious ways.” Or why are there bad people bad socioeconomic instances HOLY WARS and we’re told, why we were given free will? Or Satan runs the earth. Oh, please. I’m on so many meds for ptsd from my past, the life God ‘created’ for me There is no miracle. People are full of it, lying, faking it, Jesus is dead. Lets take the Catholic Churches: if you sold all the wealth in their churches, how many homeless would have food and shelter. OOOOO or those mega churches. Pastor struts back and forth with thousands of people watching him, he’s on tv too, what if he gave all that call in money, cut down his church into housing units and fed people, housed people. Wow, I think there is even a bible verse in there, for when I was hungry you clothed me, da da da da da. And no one can agree on anything. I googled it. There are 217 christian denominations in the u.s. That was in 2006. I turned to Paganism because at least there are thousands of years of religions to choose from. And why stick with one? There is no Judeo-Christian God. He was made up. If there were, we wouldn’t be the nasty people we are, there wouldn’t be perverts and serial killers, (who can get to heaven too if they confess to God. I thought hell would be more fitting?), homelessness, starvation, and stuck up Christians.

What help? I must have missed that part of God.

  • Atheist Man

It is very easy for a good single man like me to really hate that filthy scumbag God since he never gave me a good wife and family to share my life with. God is just very evil the way i look at it since it is certainly no fun to be all alone when life just sucks as it is, and then to be all alone without a family which really made it a double whammy for me.

  • Paul

God will screw you up. Get as far away as you can. I’m serious. If you are looking for happiness with God you will only find despair and sadness.
