I was so grateful to be able to attend some of Pastor Martin Holdts sermons. I would just drink in every word he said because I knew they were so precious, true and directly from the word of God. Unfortunately I only had the chance to attend one years’ worth of sermons of Pastor Holdt because I only started attending the Baptist church a year before he passed away. I was privileged to be baptised by him and know listen to his sermons on my laptop. Thank you for making his sermons freely available online. I believe he was and is a very special man to God and I think that every human being would benefit greatly from listening and learning from his sermons.

Both Brother Martin and his wife, were there when I needed a good neighbour many years ago, I will never forget their kindness or hospitality or that of their children! May God bless and comfort those who mourn x

It was my joy and priviledge to meet the young Martin Holdt who had just received the Lord as his Saviour, in the Central Baptist Church, Pta, in the early 60′s. He was a trainee manager for CNA at that time. We shared a room in the then Maranatha Private Hotel in Pta. From the word go, he had a hunger and a love for the Lord which was always an example to me, especially in his prayer-life. I have often quoted him as an example of a precious and dedicated son of the Lord. My memories of the hours of fellowship, fun and laughter will remain, as well as the longing to follow our Lord as he did. May the God of all comfort, comfort the family during this time and may the sweet savor of Christ he leaves behind, linger until the Lord returns!

Dear Jonathan, My family and I had the priveledge of knowing Martin well. While he was the pastor at the Honeyridge Baptist Church and lecturing at the Lynnwood Ridge Bible School he used to spend his time between morning and evening lectures in our home. He often talked about you personally and I know that he prayed fervently for your conversion. After a visit my children often remarked that it was as if Paul himself had come to visit us. What a godly man he was!

It was a shock to me to hear of Martin’s death a week ago.

I also had the privilege of knowing Martin Holdt. Some years ago I regularly attended the evening services at the Constantia Park Baptist Church where Martin preached. I loved his attention to detail and expository preaching. One of the best series on the book of Revelation was preached by Martin at that time.

Surely, a giant has left our midst!
