Thanks for the great observations regarding these potentially embarrassing moments of frozen grey matter.

It's quite amazing the process of the human brain. I've had a similar moment in the public reading of scripture after having been providentially deprived of proper rest. The phrase had something to do with God having done "for us", but I said "by us" instead. I remember my mind immediately began to process the thoughts of "What did I just do! That was heresy! I just defaced the Word of God! Do I go back and correct or just continue on?" And the thoughts rambled on 90 miles a minute, all the while I continued reading. Of course this made me think more, "I must stop and correct my mistake. No I must read on, I've gone too far now." Amazing what transpired in the mind in a matter of seconds while I was continuing to read with zeal as though nothing had happened.

I can only pray and trust that the mistake was not nearly as distracting for the congregation as it was for me!
