With all due respect, Dr. Murray, I was with you until the nod to the current occupant of the White House ("Well at least I tried. What have you done?"). Also, it's debatable whether Obamacare was "hijacked" by progressives or whether its devastating effects were part of the plan all along. The intimate involvement and influence of certain radicals throughout Obama's life (the Ayers family, the Communist Frank Marshall Davis, the Chicago political machine, etc.), as well as his own repeatedly expressed disdain for America's founding principles, would suggest that his intentions for the country through Obamacare were always something other than benign.

The history of progressive politics in the U.S., the founding and history of the Republican party (from its beginnings and its best-loved president, Abraham Lincoln, through its role in the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and beyond) and the biographies of America's founding fathers make for interesting reading and might bring one to somewhat different conclusions. To the extent that in modern times, the GOP has become just another Machiavellian "club," it should be rejected with as much fervor as the Democrat party.

Why can't Christians and Christian churches step up and provide care? Because, for a host of reasons, the costs would be overwhelming. Decades ago, with the advent of union contracts and other morally questionable forces, the practice of letting the consumer market drive the cost of medical care was jettisoned. "The market" became the financial industry, most specifically insurance companies. Also, all 50 states have failed to enact proper tort reform laws. This results in an average OB-GYN in some places paying an annual med mal premium of $100,000 or more. The cost is passed on to the insurance companies and from there, to their insureds. (I used to work in this field, on the wrong side - but now I've seen the light on it.) The entire system is unconscionable, but it's a large part of why medical care here costs as much as it does. Other mini-bureaucracies have also taken over and voila! - we have a veritable nightmare.

Thank you for this blog. It is a delight to read!

I read this article and can sympathize since I lived in Galveston for about 10 years:
http://www.texasobserver.org/a-galveston-med-student-describes-life-and-death-in-the-safety-net/

The problem is very real. I once gave one of the St. Vincent house patients some of my own medication since he could not afford to buy it. Yet I know the AFA is not the cure this young doctor hopes for. She does not seem to realize that middle class families are also hurting.

Then I see article and I want to scream, literally scream:

1. Thank you for speaking out.
2. The motivation for Obamacare was from the start and continues to be evil.
3. Whether or not ChristCare arises, Obama can never legitimately claim he tried to help anyone with medical cost. This was not and is not his goal.
4. Any large scale effort for ChristCare, that is one that goes beyond local church clinics will be stop by executive fiat. The goal of Obamacare is control of the citizens; it is not about health insurance or medical care.
5 An exception to point 4, is prayer and the sovereignty of God.
