It’s often not for us to know. God will work out His plans for our growth, most of the time without telling us what He’s doing. You will grow closer to him because of this, which is what He’s after. Individual reasons are too lofty for us to figure out, and many times we can be wrong. In reading so many books and articles on suffering by Reformed authors, including many recommended by you, this is something I’ve learned from them, from experience in suffering from multiple chronic conditions and of course, Scripture.
