I agree with you. Although I didn’t state it explicitly, one of my main reasons for writing this was to show that we can have all the leadership theory in the world and yet the character and conduct can be sorely lacking. The book and subsequent events are a great warning to me about the need to practice what I preach, and to follow biblical not worldly patterns of leadership.

Sorry if it was confusing Ryan. Not denying present crisis. All I was saying was there was a past crisis from which it appears lasting lessons were not learned by anyone.

With much respect for the many, *many* posts that have been so helpful, I have to confess I’m with Ryan on this one, not only because Mark has sadly been modeling poor leadership for so long, but also because the entire concept of a shepherd of sheep feeling the need for a “leadership coach” is just American-ish icky. This might be a symptom of the problem, not a prescription for the cure.

I’m confused, Mark Driscoll is in a PRESENT crisis of leadership, not past. Why would you advertise Dave Kraft as someone who helped Driscoll when he is not a leader who is lasting?
