I’m somewhat ashamed to single out your comment, “The only thing I really detest is the mainstream media”. So it’s NOT just me! I can assure you as one in my mid-50s, as a kid who saw Walter Cronkite most nights (my dad’s choice for national news), I don’t remember the mainstream media being that way so many years ago, nor do I recall so many opinion-laced newspaper pieces. It saddens me to think of how far this nation has fallen over my lifetime. It isn’t that America was ever perfect – I remember the demonstrations, assassinations, and various controversies in the news – but at least I thought the news reporting of such events was at least honest, non-partisan, and non-manipulative. I don’t know exactly when that changed, perhaps it was Watergate, but it’s become awfully bad now.

I rejoice with you in your joy – I really do, but I have to be honest, I sorrow on a personal level and most especially for our beloved Scotland. It goes without saying that my good wishes and my daily prayers are with your whole family, but my heart still aches a bit.
I will always be Scottish, British, but a piece of my heart is over there on that side of the Pond. I do look forward, more and more, to when there will be no more sea…
