In the early 80′s the Lord removed me from the church I had been serving in so that I could finally meet Him…not the horrendous God of my legalistic unloving upbringing. A couple of years later, after He had laid a foundation of truth in me, the pastor at that church was exposed in sexual sin. I am not sure why, but I was there on the next service after he stepped down, and there was so much destruction, pain, sorrow. However, I will never forget the joy the Holy Spirit gave me as he filled my being with: “I am your Lord! I will be lifted up! It is I that am sovereign!” I so wanted the people around me to know this and to be comforted that HE exposed this man, this is HIS church, and HE WILL BE LIFTED UP! I could only have that perspective, however, because the Lord had drawn me to Himself and I was not entangled in that body. I can clearly see now, many years later and now in a church, how devastating this would be to me, were I not to remember this basic truth on which number 3 stands.
