I was purchasing another book on Amazon for my daughter and I to study- this came up as something I might like (as I've purchased several of your -David's- books). I just saw the link to this post on a friend's FB page, read the title, jumped up and yelled- "Is that the book I just bought!?" because, of course, I had to buy the recommended book. ;o) I am very much looking forward to reading this; your books on depression have ministered to my soul more than words can say and I have no doubt that Shona's words will as well. There were so many dark times... and I'm so grateful that I've had wonderful Christian friend's who haven't "freaked out on me" when I did, after years of living in fear (of medication!), take the medication. It was the one thing that allowed further healing to come...but the journey is long and continues.

I know something of this so I can sympathise. God grant us the grace to weep with them that weep.
Some verses that I've found helpful:

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? Psalm 56:8

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

However I appreciate that it is especially difficult when your mind is unable to focus and lay hold on the Word. At times like that I try to remind myself that no matter how low we go, "the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Deuteronomy 33:27 - That one verse is enough...
