From Vile to Victorious Bodies

This poignant series of photos by Tom Hussey reflect how much we change over the course of our lives. They illustrate so many Scriptures that speak of the rapid passing of time and the vanity of life.

However, we need not end there, wallowing in solemn and melancholic nostalgia. For the Christian, these young beautiful reflections are only pale dim shadows of the transformation that will be experienced at the resurrection when, as the KJV so vividly puts it, Christ “shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body.” (Phil 3:21).

So, look at these photos and feel the weight of your mortality. Then look again and enjoy your immortality.

“The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body…And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man…So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
