I am familiar with the teaching of amillennialism, but have always had some questions that needed answering. Would you mind answering them? First, what do you do with the last few chapters of Ezekiel that give specific measurements and rules regarding a third temple and the ceremonies thereof, plus the dividing of the lands between the tribes of Israel? According to Revelation this temple is not in the eternity of Rev.20-21 as there are distinct differences, so where do you put it, or how do you interpret it? Second, do you take all of Scripture allegorically or just Revelation? Do you believe the Pentateuch is also allegorical? Do you believe in a rapture of the saints before Armageddon where they are changed into immortal bodies, or is that just a gathering of them still in human bodies to Jerusalem? Thank you for your patience with these questions.

Connie, thanks for your patience. Here are a few thoughts in response to your questions:1. The temple was the place of God’s dwelling and blessing. I believe that what Ezekiel is predicting is a future greater demonstration of God’s dwelling and blessing using the figures of God’s dwelling and blessing that the people of Ezekiel’s day were familiar with. I believe that Jesus (John 2:19) and the continuing New Testament church is the initial fulfillment of this. Revelation predicts an even greater fulfillment in the new heavens and earth.2. I try to interpret Scripture according to genre. For example, Genesis (and the rest of the Pentateuch) reads like literal history to me. Psalms reads like poetry. Ezekiel, some of Daniel, and much of Revelation read like apocalyptic literature. Take, for example, Revelation 20. No one in any millennial school of thought believes that Jesus came down from heaven with a literal chain and literally bound the devil with it. Everyone understands that this is a figure of a reality. There is truth there, but it’s presented in picture form.3. I believe that there will be one second coming of Christ and one general resurrection of all people (good and evil). This will be followed by the final judgment. In other words: one second coming, one resurrection, one judgment.If you send me your email, I can send you some articles that I’ve written on the subject. I appreciate that this is a difficult subject, but that’s the light I have on these matters so far.

Thank you for the answers, but I guess I am still a little lacking in understanding of how you turn verses like “The breadth of the door was ten cubits and the sides of the door were five cubits..or…the doors had two leaves apiece, etc. into some spiritual application. To me it resembles the giving of the dimensions for the tabernacle. I don’t understand the reasoning or logic behind why it isn’t taken literally. Is there some logical premise for doing that? I am trying to understand the logic behind this interpretation of Scripture, as well as its tenets, as I have friends who ascribe to this, and I would like to understand it, so I can converse intelligently with them on the subject. Coming from a background that believes God means what He says and the Bible should be taken literally, I am not familiar with all the differences in teachings from the other millennial teachings, and the logic undergirding an amillennial interpretation. Sorry… I guess I possess a very dull mind. Just couldn’t get it clear what the actual timeline is by the animation –a few headings appeared initially but in no stated order; afterward other headings popped up. But I am left somewhat unsure of what the actual order is. It would have been better to have shown the successive events numbered one after the other.
