Over the last few years I’ve been privileged to preach a couple of times a month in the Grand Rapids Free Reformed Church. With the retirement of their Pastor, Dr Lawrence Bilkes, I’ve been asked to take on a bit more preaching and some pastoring until the congregation calls a new pastor. One of the commitments is to take a midweek meeting once a month on Christ in the Old Testament. We began yesterday with “Christ in Genesis.” I’ve attached the outline (download here). These notes are a bit skeletal (I added flesh as I spoke), but they may provide the basis for your own Bible study. Hope they might produce some spiritual heartburn (Luke 24:32).
This is fantastic. I am taking a class on the Pentateuch and we have to outline each book of the Torah. We can format our outline however we want to as long as we show that we have spent time in the text. It has to be 4-5 pages. I am outlining how Christ is in each chapter of each book in the 5 Books of Moses. Of course many times He is alluded to multiple times in the chapter. It seems like a work in progress, where I would eventually like to apply the 7 ways of getting to Christ in the text laid out by Greidanus.
