Who is your favorite boss? Your favorite coach? Your favorite teacher? Your favorite mentor? What do they all have in common? They all have a combination of authority and empathy, don’t they? Researchers have found that we will not let anyone be our guide in any part of our life unless they have both authority and empathy. We want guides we can respect for their competence and trust for their compassion.
Who has so much authority and empathy that we can trust them to be the guide of our souls? Luke 7:1-17 points us to a spiritual guide with full authority and perfect empathy
