Luke 19v11-27

Our view of the end of the world affects what we start in the world. If we think the end of the world is imminent, we’re not going to start a business, enroll in college, build a house, or start a mission, are we? Instead, we’ll do nothing and passively wait for the end. What is the most productive eschatology?

As Jesus approached Jerusalem in Luke 19:11-27, he realized that many of his followers supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately (11). Knowing how this mistaken view would damage the kingdom’s advance in the world, Jesus told them a parable to stir them to active mission not passive waiting.
