Last Thursday was Thanksgiving Day, one of the best days in the American year. We gather in our churches and our homes to thank God together for his innumerable good gifts to us in the past year.

But what if you feel you have nothing to thank God for? Perhaps 2021 has been a year of loss, a year in which it seems God has done nothing but take away his good gifts from you. You’ve lost a loved one, you’ve lost your health, you’ve lost your family through conflict, you’ve lost your job or career, you’ve lost a friendship, you’ve lost your joy, peace and assurance.

If that’s you, Thanksgiving Day can feel like Torture Day. How can I thank God when I’ve got nothing to thank God for? How can I give God praise when all he’s done is take every good thing away from me?

Listen here.
