Have you ever noticed that some unbelievers are better people than some Christians? That’s challenging isn’t it, and it raises some hard questions. Are unbelievers as bad and as doomed as the Bible says? Are believers as saved and as secure as the Bible says?

A lot of confusion and unbelief can result from these questions. Exodus 11 answers some of these questions, clarifies our thinking and strengthens our faith.

When God sends hard things into our lives, we often react badly. We try to bargain with God, we fake repentance, we take our frustrations out on God and his people. That’s exactly how Pharaoh reacted to God’s judgments in Exodus 10. Today we look at Pharaoh’s responses so that we can learn a better and safer way.

Why did God let Satan fall from being an angel to becoming the devil? Why didn’t God just kill him there and then? Why does God let him have so much power and success in the world? If we haven’t asked these questions ourselves, we’ve surely been asked them at times. In some ways, these are impossible questions to answer. We’re left with, “I just don’t know,” which doesn’t help us or anyone else who’s asking.

But God’s treatment of wicked Pharaoh in Exodus 9 provides some answers—though probably not all the answers—to these awkward and challenging questions.
